Bonnaroo 2013

By Sam Hofer

Bonnaroo is one of the largest music festivals in the world. Turns out, they are also one of the most generous festivals. The event is not only a huge support for the music people make, but also for the people who listen to it.

According to a partner of Bonnaroo, the charity has raised over $5 million in the past decade to many charities supporting a cornucopia of different causes. Some of which include; The American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and MusiCares.

These organizations help the sustaining and betterment of human life around the world with basic needs. These are some of the most needed charities for aid around the world and they are being heavily supported by Bonnaroo. The festival hopes to double or even triple that number of $5 million in the coming decade, and look to be on track to do just that.

The way it works is a portion of every ticket sold to the Bonnaroo event is put into a fund called the Bonnaroo Works Fund. From there the money is donated to help the charities listed above. That money has also played a heavy hand in the repairing of lives torn apart by Hurricane Katrina and the Nashville Floods.

Last and certainly not least, Bonnaroo helps local charities that have yet to get off the ground yet as well. They aren’t just giving food to the big dogs; they are taking the time to feed the runts and soon they will grow into the big dogs and help more and more people. Local charities partner with Bonnaroo and set up a tent on the festival grounds and in a weekend, they have raised more than $40,000 to help the cause they wish to the most.

Bonnaroo is a good place. Bonnaroo is a Good Sign.
