This past month I have been on more flights (11) than any other one-month-period in my life. Contrary to appearances, each city I travel to is to wear another brand’s t-shirt, hat, and provide their consumers with a positive experience so I can earn another paycheck, deposit my energy into the masses, and keep this beautiful dream alive for those who need a Good Sign in their lives.
Twice, I had the pleasure of connecting in Baltimore, and even though I didn’t leave the airport I made meaningful connections and planted seeds of positivity and hope which will grow into valuable members of Team Good Sign.

While waiting for my first ever Maryland Crab Cake, I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy Innes. Quickly, I learned that Nancy is a fellow legion of the light, and founder of Pedal with a Heart. She founded Pedal with a Heart in 2013 in memory of Steve Innes who passed away in 2011 from sudden cardiac arrest. He and Nancy were avid tandem riders on their tandem recumbent trike. Together they rode the Trek Across Maine, a fundraiser for the American Lung Association, eight times.
Pedal with a Heart raises money for non-profits who support bicycling and heart health. In 2013 Nancy bicycled across the United States with WomanTours, raising nearly $15,000 for the Heart Center at Maine Medical Center.
In 2015 Nancy will once more join forces with WomanTours for a 2,500 mile bicycle ride up the Atlantic Coast, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Bar Harbor, Maine.
Two days ago the group rode 63 miles to St. Augustine, the birthplace of “This is a Good Sign“.
“We are in St. Augustine for our rest day. It is the oldest continuously occupied city in the U.S. I went to the Lightner Museum which is in the old Alcazar Hotel. The museum isn’t too exciting but we had lunch at the bottom of the old pool. The museum contains many artifacts from the Gilde Age which ended about 1920.”
(Related: Desmond Tutu)
Nancy is an outstanding example of an individual who had a productive response to struggle. Loss often isolates and consumes humans. The best way to remember a loved one is by transforming their memory and spirit into the care and kindness of touching another who needs it. If you miss the ones you love, let your love shine through healing the heart and soul of another, permeating this realm into the next.
Donations to Pedal with a Heart, Inc. are tax deductible and 100% of funds are given to the non-profits they support. The administrative costs for Pedal with a Heart are privately funded in memory of Barbara and J. Read Murphy.
