We are making people feel better and having TONS of fun while doing so!

I am Eric Dennis founder of Team Good Sign and the Good Sign positivity movement. What is a Good Sign? Well.. First and foremost it is about having FUN. It means many different things to many people. Here are a few of the explanations that I’ve come up with through my experience in living and watching this movement evolve over the past 2.5 years. It is a happiness communication device, a feel good icon similar to the smiley face but more thought provoking and impactful. It is the complete opposite of a protest sign, it is a sign of celebration, pointing a finger at something or someone that is doing a good job! I feel that by giving more of our attention to the things that are going well in the world and helping the people that are doing it right to get more attention, that we will actually attract and create more of these beneficial outcomes. As opposed to giving energy and attention to things are less than desirable, lets try the opposite.

Believe it or not it’s also personal interactions quality control device. It immediately tells people something about who you are, a positive, happy and supportive person, and by the same token people who respond favorably to our logo just seem to be more upbeat and have a better outlook on life. These people will say things like “That IS a Good Sign!” Or “I Love that sign!” and my favorite “Where did you get that? Can I have it?” …The other kind of people usually have comments and questions like “Why is a that a Good Sign? “Where is the bad sign?” or “That’s a bad sign” or any number of other unoriginal digs.. Well, they just seem to be people who are generally more pessimistic or perhaps they are just too smart to be happy so they feel the need to question even a simple Good Sign. So in effect you can really tell something about a person immediately just by the way they react to the sign you are carrying or the shirt, sticker or pin you are wearing. It allows you to identify and filter those people out if you choose or at least allows you to be more prepared for the type of conversation you are about to be involved in.

The really great thing about it is that most people do respond to or acknowledge it in one way or another. Therefor even the people with negative comments are still effectively proving our model and the power that this icon carries to inspire personal interaction. Some people call it a good icebreaker. Its more than that, its an active conversation catalyst due to the feeling that it conveys and the curiosity it generates. It brings like-minded people together in a whole new way. Its a great way to grow your network and even improve upon the type of people in it!

How can you get involved? Spread the word of our movement by telling people about us. You can go to our website and watch the 3 minute CBS news feature covering our movement, please like and share the video then go print out a FREE sign or buy some of our Good Sign Gear (shirts, pins, stickers, etc.) Then you can experience this phenomena firsthand and to show your support for our movement. Help us to get more people involved that can get our merchandise out into retail. Also folks that are interested in helping to promote and further develop our many creative outreach programs. One example is: “Good Sign TV” this is a show platform that we hope to grow into an inspiring and empowering TV channel that is dedicated to engaging people in a non judgemental and universally accepting way. The intent being to inspire and empower them by showing them entertaining examples of success and personal triumph. Also we will be highlighting creativity as a user interactive entertainment reporting show covering all mediums. Another show would be a simple reality show that covers the day to day adventures of Team Good Sign having fun and romping about the globe spreading our Good Sign vibe for all to see. The highly personal, intimate and emotionally charged responses we regularly receive will make for amazing and healing programming!

Here’s what our interactive platform for Good Sign TV currently looks like:

Good Sign TV hosts and correspondents: We highlight success and celebrate victory through bringing attention to some of the positive Good Signs in our community. You can use the Good Sign TV app on your smartphone or regular video camera. (app currently in development and coming soon!)

1. Select a person who has overcome an obstacle or struggle in their life,
whether they grew up poor, adopted, drug addicted, handicapped etc..etc.. and went on to not only do something great with it but are able to illustrate how that seemingly harsh situation actually shaped them as a person, added value to their life and actually enhanced the way in which they serve the community. Then interview them about this same subject and film them in action doing what it is that they do best.

2. Find an event that you feel is a good sign because it enriches your life and community and go out with your good sign and interview the attendees, cover a few of the key activities and so forth.

3. Good Sign TV News segment. You can pick from any positive news or pop culture happening in the world, and do a fun monologue about it and why it is a good sign. Lets show the world who’s doing it right!

4. Do a video of yourself speaking about what a good sign means to you.. what the movement means to you, how you found out about it and how it impacted you.. etc.. this piece will be edited and used as your intro.

5. Random street interviews while out good signing, catching peoples reactions, comments etc..

If this sounds like something you’d like to do, send me a friend invite, join the “team good sign” and “good sign ambassadors” groups. I am also creating a couple of dedicated groups specifically for this project.

Feel free to add to this list and bounce ideas back and forth as this is still in the concept stage and just one of the MANY creative ideas we have to create change and healing in society.

How and why did we come up with this? We basically took the saying that people use when things are going well “This is a good sign” and combined it with the existing image of a caution sign (I actually like to call them “Pay attention signs”) to make this feel-good saying have a longer lasting, stronger impact and to allow it to be viral and more memorable. We came up with this to counteract a lot of negative energy in the world i.e. Doomsday TV programming and sensationalistic fear marketing to us and our youth. These and many other issues have the effect of desensitising and separating people from one another through the apprehension that something bad may happen from approaching a stranger on the street or wherever. We are making it easier for people to safely connect with other good people. We also believe that by showing appreciation for the good in the community by showing up with our signs that we will highlight and generate more awareness for the organizations and people who’s helping efforts are being part of progressive solutions for a better tomorrow. I personally feel that one of the best solutions for the issues of today is programs that foster more creativity and use of our imagination so some of my “Good Signs” are art and music oriented festivals, outreach and education programs. Humanitarian relief efforts and organizations that help to meet the basic needs of the less fortunate in the community are also very high on my list.. What are your Good Signs? What do you feel could use more attention and appreciation in your community?

If this all sounds too serious for you.. Please realize that this is just my view on how this all works and my best attempt to communicate this experience. The only way for you to truly understand it is to try it for yourself and just have FUN with it. I mean if it isn’t fun why bother right? It is an absolute blast to carry a Good Sign, all the smiles you inspire and the people you impact along the way will give you a feeling that makes this absolutely addictive. There are already thousands of our Good Sign ambassadors doing this all over the world who would wholeheartedly agree 🙂 The real message of the Good Sign is not really a message at all. Its a question.. We are helping people to feel better by inspiring them to remember what they are grateful for and and to reflect upon what is good about their situation. We don’t tell people what to think.. We just ask “Whats good in your world today?” “What does a Good Sign mean to you?”

This sign can also make any event, product or promotion etc. way more memorable and in a positive way. We are open to speaking with companies and individuals about increasing our outreach through merchandising, entertainment, The Good Sign awards show, Good Sign TV. There is also an opportunity for synergistic co-branding and promotional partnerships.

We are currently mobilizing a worldwide sales force and actively looking for regional managers and recruiters. Businesses: Ask us how we can help you take your brand, product or event viral inexpensively and quickly. *hint* people don’t throw Good Sign fliers away 😉 The most beautiful part about all of this is ~ not only do you get the added VALUE of increased effectiveness, efficiency and memorability of your campaign, event or product promotion ~ It’s a win/win because you are helping to spread more of these feel-good signs all over the world. Most people would agree that we can use more Good Signs right now.
Clothing line: We have hundreds of very creative and varying lifestyle oriented designs available for licensing or manufacture of apparel and other soft goods. The main project i have been focusing on is recycling lightly used shirts/hoodies etc from local thrift stores and then putting a one-of-a-kind hand decorated Good Sign spray stenciled designs on each one. Even personalizing them directly for the customer in some cases. It’s a lot of fun! 🙂

Team Good Sign is a worldwide public service organization.

We are also a trademarked brand that enhances anything.

Good Signs make everything better.

We are changing the way people think about signs.

Instead of using them to protest we become walking affirmations.
As cheerleaders for society we perform random acts of recognition wherever we go.
People all over the place are carrying Good Signs and shouting things like “Youre doing a great job! and Thanks for being you!”
We are spreading a message of spontaneous uncondtional encouragement. And its catching on.
We are a brand of help, healing the division caused by too much competition and rudeness in our environment.
We are the clean up crew and we practice a new kind of environmentalism.
We are infusing our atmosphere with Love and Hope.
Good Signs are a catalyst for more supportive personal interactions and we are leaving our mark with visual affirmations everywhere!
Support us. Get involved.
Who can benefit from a Good Sign? >> Anyone and Everyone!

“‘Yes, all you say is very interesting, very beautiful, and I wish too that the world was changed. But how many think like you? How can you do it? How can it be done?’. They come with that pessimistic remark, and I tell them, ‘One person comes into a country with a little cold or influenza and it spreads. If such a bad thing can spread, can not an elevated thought of love, kindness and goodwill towards all men spread? See then that there are finer germs, germs of goodwill, of love, kindness, and feeling, germs of brotherhood, of the desire for spiritual evolution, which can have greater results than the other ones. If we all have that optimistic view, if we all work in our little way, we can accomplish a great deal”
